"A long, long time ago, Koluscap designed animals in a large fashion out of clay. Musuwok in particular were as big as the tallest trees. One day, while a Mus was minding his own business, he was approached by Laks, the troublemaker. Laks was also a shapeshifter and created by clay from Malsom, Koluscap's twin brother. He was looking to cause chaos. Laks suggested to Mus that it would be fun if Mus were to playfully toss humans around on his antlers. Mus was intrigued by this idea and approached Koluscap, he excitedly asked him if Mus could have some humans to play with. Koluscap, surprised by this request of Mus, was not impressed by this selfish attitude, for he had made the Mus to be man's friend. Koluscap then took matters into his own hands and decided to shape and shrink the Mus down to the size they are today. The Mus and his kind were now capable of being caught; providing sustenance, weapons, tools, clothing, and whatever else the Wabanaki could create. The Mus became humbled and crept off into the woods. Koluscap warned the Wabanaki that they must also practice humility and balance, to never take more than needed or become greedy. He told them they were to tend to the land, waters, and animals as he had taught us. For if they became greedy and selfish, a giant by the name of famine would surely follow and cause suffering, pain, and hunger."
